7/1 - Diana, I've changed my mind slightly. I want to use this wiki page to begin the design and development of the LWPS Admin Control Panel. We'll call ithe project CP020. We'll start out very simply. Below will be draft of the current Administration panel and the new LWPS Admin Control Panel. See tasks below.
I authorize you to spend time to complete Tasks T4 below.
(Current Adminstration panel. LIVE | DEV)
Administration
Main | Add users | Manage users | Manage flagged content | Spam control | LWPS Admin Control Panel
(New LWPS Adminstration Control Panel linked to from above. LIVE | DEV)
LWPS Administration Control Panel
Main | Management | Look & Feel | Tools & Settings | Admin | Return to Elgg/LWPS Adminstration
Tasks
(Only do this work on the DEV side.)
T1. Create the above LWPS Admin Control Panel.
T2. Add to the current Adminstration panel the link to the LWPS Admin Control Panel.
T3. Make the new LWPS Admin Control Panel look like the draft above including making the link "Return to Elgg/LWPS Adminstration" an active link.
T4. Change the line in the banner that reads "Community Learning Space" to "Make your dreams your LifeWork" and describe what you would need to do to make this a variable field where I could use this panel to change it anytime I wish.
Developments/Questions/Responses/Tasks/Modules affected Log:
Text in purple is from Pete.
03 July, 02:15-02:24 (9 mins)
- Made _lwps-admin directory
- Copied contents of _admin to _lwps-admin
- Edited lib/templates.php to create the LWPS Admin Control Panel
- Making this page is more complicated that I think it is. Diana: I don't understand. You added a link to the LWPS/Elgg admin panel and created the LWPS panel in 9 minutes. I think that is pretty good. Please explain further. - Thanks. That's because I already took my time finding the lib/templates.php on CP005, so I just had to edit the lib/templates.php again. Creating a directory and copying contents to _lwps-admin won't really take time. But I think I'll take my time in doing the individual pages (Management, Look & Feel, Tools & Settings, Admin), it will take me more than 4-8 hours.
- I'll add the 9 minutes to the Total Billable on the FrontPage next to the CP020 line item. I assume that 9 min. was included in your total. Pete. - I think I haven't , but I'll check.
- Pete, please log in as hubbard on LWPS-DEV, you'll see the LWPS Admin Control Panel link - click on it. On the LWPS Admin Control Panel, please ignore the stuffs below the panel, as I still have to find out how to remove/change them.
- I'll be in Seattle, WA from Wed-Sun for an NCDA conference, so I won't be as responsive.
- In T3 above, change "Return to Elgg/LWPS Adminstration" to "Return to LWPS/Elgg Adminstration"
- See Task T4 above. Pete
03 July, 10:55-11:05 (10 mins)
- I have to find the installation page where we're free to change the settings of the site. I forgot the account (I'm thinking it's "administrator"), so I still have to find it. From there, I could look at the code, and see how I can implement it to the _lwps-admin.
- Changed the tagline to "Community Learning Space" to "Make your dreams your LifeWork" at config.php
- Also changed the link in _lwps-admin to "Return to LWPS/Elgg Administration".
05 July, 23:42-23:54 (12 mins)
- found _elggadmin for changing the Header Page of the site
06 July, 00:05-00:17 (12 mins)
- investigated how _elggadmin/index.php changes the config.php
- investigated the contents of _elggadmin/lib.php
- elggadmin_config_save() seems to be useful in doing so
- we just have to call this function to change the tagline ASAP
- just have to do coding to make this function work at _lwps-admin
Total minutes so far: 43 mins ~ 0.72 hours
